East Coast Trip Day 5: Drive to Massanutten

You would think after 5 days I would start waking up earlier, but it looks like a 9:30-10:00 rising is sticking around....I wonder what would happen if I started going to bed before midnight-thirty. I digress. ;)

The rest of the morning was filled with doing laundry and getting things packed up for our drive to Massanutten.

Dad had the company of the girls for the 3 hour drive, which gave Tom and I a chance to practice our future Sunday drives in a sports car. :) Traffic got backed up for about 20 minutes as we made our way through the city. The posted speed limit was 55, but we were barely crawling along through this stretch. Then, I saw the real speed limit sign. It said 5.5. Believe it or not, I wasn't fast enough to get a picture of it. There was literally a decimal point between the 5s. Or, it could have been an epic placement of the bolt attaching the sign to the pole.

Once we were out of the city, the road cleared out a bit and it was smooth sailing. Dad took us through some of the country roads, which took us through the mountains. The scenery was gorgeous!
The rolling hills begin.
An idyllic farm in the countryside.
Blue skies are gorgeous.
We enjoyed driving the hills...in the Mustang. :)
Yup, I could live there.
This reminded us of home.
We've arrived!
Dad checked us in and we headed to our units. Dad and Janice have a full unit; meaning it has a complete kitchen. Tom and I are in a partial unit. The only thing we do not have is a stove. Kerrie and Todd are in a partial unit as well, but they are in a different part of the resort for the time being. Next Saturday, all 11 of us will be in the full and partial unit we are staying in.

The unit far surpassed our expectations! It is close to the size of our house, just configured differently.
This is the girls swimming pool, jacuzzi tub. Each of them HAD to take a bath last night. I don't blame them. It's pretty amazing!
Our living room.
Our dining room.
Our kitchenette...really, it's not missing much. There is a 2 burner hot plate in the drawer, too.
Alora loves her bed already. "Sit on it, it's squishy!"
Tom chatting with his mom while I take pictures. "Look cute," click. :)
We were all pretty hungry so we headed to Ciro's Italian Eatery in Elkton, about 5 miles away. Kerrie and the boys met us there. The food was good and the servings HUGE.

Dad went with our little family to the grocery store to pick up some more provisions before heading back to Massanutten for the night. We ended the day with the girls taking their cleansing swims, while Dad, Tom and I tried a local hard cider.
Yummy cider!
Josh sent one more unibrow picture to Kerrie and I. He cracks me up!
Uni-selfie!
Alora asked me to take a picture of her t-shirt that she's so proud of. :)
Well, that's it for today. Tomorrow's agenda includes swimming. The girls have been patiently waiting to take a dunk in the pool.

  1. Relax and enjoy your time with your family! :-) Piper is good. She wants to be outside ALL the time! She is my shadow. However, she has split her time sleeping in Emily's room and Sam's room. In fact...she overtook Sam's bed the other night and didn't want to give it up. lol She and Blaze have had NO issues at all! We will leave Wednesday for our Long Beach Vacation with both dogs. I will text you some pics of Piper on vacation! While we enjoy your pictures of you on vacation!
